Arnika (in latin: Arnica montana L.)
Thick roots where the Arnica can hibernate. In spring the arnica buds a rosetta of egg-shaped leaves, that lie flat on the ground. A leavy, fluffy-haired stalk with mostly one, rarely two glowing egg-yellow blossoms.
The Arnica grows on rich-in-humus or sandy and un-dunged earth up to 2.000 m.

Enzian (in Latin: Gentiana)
The Gentian belongs to the bushes and its bloom is from May to June. The Alpine Gentian (Gentiana alpine) blooms from July to September. Gentians become 10 – 30 cm tall and have blue blossoms. They prefer limey and clayey, fresh, humid ground.
Gentians are under nature protection and must not be picked.

The little Brunelle is arduous and hibernates in its roots wherefrom many ascending, angular and reddish stalks grow to a height up to 50 cm and covered with fine hair.

Alpenrose (in latin: Rhododendron hirsutum)
The stunted-growth-pattern roses are called Alpine roses. Attention!
The Alpine rose is not edible because it is toxic!
Regional rhododendrons root not very deep, about spade-deep, but can grow a height of about 1,20 m.
They prefer sour earth, but also tolerate limey grounds to some extent.
